Why Use All Natural Skin Care Products? Aren’t Natural Products good enough?

Feb 15th 2014

Did you know that there is a difference between "natural" and "all natural" skincare products? If you look at your wide array of skincare products and one bottle says natural and another product says it is all natural, those two products are not on the same level of quality. The two terms are not interchangeable for they have vastly different meanings when it comes to labeling. Weird right? In today's article you will learn the difference between "natural" and "all natural" products, and how "all natural" is the way to go for quality skincare.

All Natural Skincare

With the multitude of options available for skincare, why use all natural skin care products?

Natural is “in”, and you can see it on labels everywhere – and not just on skin care! The beauty industry has was feels like a million options for natural beauty products. And for good reason – a survey done by Statista showed that about 73% of women ages 18-34 stated that “all natural” skincare is important to them. In fact, the majority of women in all age groups in this survey felt the same way.

So if a product says it is Natural, is that the same as an “All Natural” skin care product? Is there a difference?

Natural, when labeled on skin care productshas no technical definition from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), so virtually anyone can label any product as “natural” – and they do! So when we pose this question-why should you use all natural skin care products-you will want to understand the difference of “natural” vs “all natural”. “Natural” has no specific definition, as we stated before, but “All Natural” has been regulated by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), who says that “all natural” or “100 percent natural” must mean that no synthetic ingredients are in the product formulation.

The bummer here is they do not define what a “synthetic” ingredient is. Hmmmm. . .

Fortunately, all skin care products have ingredient lists, and you can see for yourself how natural or all natural the product is. You will see on our labels that all of our products are from real plants, nuts, fruits, or earth elements such as water. While most skin care products contain some natural ingredients, very few are completely natural – most have powerful chemicals to help preserve the product for longer, to promote an effect on the skin, emulsify the ingredients, give colorings, textures, or other use, but these chemicals, while powerful with initial use, commonly cause negative reactions on the skin over time, effecting the skins own natural PH system, natural oil products, inflammation, and more. By taking the time to understand what is in your skin care products, natural and all natural alike, you can make choices that are best for your skin’s future, as well as today. This is the key to both restorative and preventative skin care – quality products that work with your natural body, not against it.
