6 Easy Lifestyle Habits To Get Rid of Dull Skin Fast

Aug 23rd 2019

Is your skin looking dull and tired? According to Dr. Tina Funt, Dermtologist at the Schweiger Dermatology Group, “Glowing skin is skin that is moist and soft—not dull, dry or flaky...glowing skin is characterized by small pores, even complexion and clear skin without blemishes.” Now this sounds like something to want in on.

Summer is in full swing, and it is your time to shine. But if you have dull and damaged skin, achieving a glowing complexion can seem almost impossible. But I am here to tell you that that goal of beautiful youthful looking skin is in fact attainable.

In this article, I am going to share with you tips and tricks to give your dull skin rejuvenation. These simple tips will not only brighten your complexion, but they are likely to make you feel amazing from the inside out.

Lifestyle Habits to Transform Dull Skin Fast

The following lifestyle habits are sure to make a difference in your body. Follow these tips and bam, you’ll be well on your way to glowing skin.

1. Hydration is key

The biggest contributor to glowing and healthy skin is water. Odds are that if you have dull skin, you are probably not drinking enough water. If the skin is not adequately hydrated, it becomes dry and it will appear dull. Adults should be drinking about half a gallon, or 2 liters, of water each day. Experts say it is best to drink water throughout your entire day, instead of just drinking a bunch at once. Make it a habit to bring a water bottle to work and to take swigs of it throughout your entire day. The benefits of staying hydrated are countless, but when it comes to skin health, hydration is sure to clear up acne and provide plump and glowing skin.

2. Moisturization

Say bye bye to dull skin when you moisturize. Dull skin is almost always linked to the skin being dry. We suggest moisturizers after showering as they help your skin retain water (this is key for a glowing complexion) and it makes your skin appear radiant. It is also very important to understand that not just any old moisturizer will get you the results you want. Make sure your moisturizers have natural ingredients and do not contain too many chemicals. We suggest Love Your Face Day Cream or Love Your Face PM Night Cream.

3. Eat healthy

You are what you eat, or in this case, your skin is. If you have unhealthy eating habits, and find yourself not eating very much fresh fruit and vegetables, do not be surprised if your skin looks tired and dull. Fresh fruit and vegetables are rich in vitamins, fibers, and antioxidants, all of which are necessary for a healthy body and mind. Clean eating, or staying away from processed food and refined sugars and instead eating whole raw foods, is sure to rejuvenate your entire body. The benefits for skin include: eliminating toxins, repairing damaged skin cells and tissues, and clearing up acne (which is caused by a buildup of toxins). Now in order to achieve this you don’t have to do a complete 360 on your diet, we just suggest to pick up a few more fruits and vegetables from the market and to opt out of foods that are excessively unhealthy. What you put in your body does have an effect on your appearance, and when trying to brighten up dull skin, diet is a big contributor.

4. Sleep

Beauty sleep is a real thing people, we aren’t joking around here. When you sleep, your body is working to heal itself and rejuvenate. And your body can’t relax and revitalize your skin cells if you aren’t getting adequate sleep. On average, it is recommended that adults get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. With a life full of hustle and bustle and never-ending to-do lists, we understand that 8 hours of sleep may be hard to obtain. But trust us, your skin needs time to heal and rest, it is absolutely and without a doubt necessary if you want to kick your dull skin to the curve and replace it with beautiful radiant skin. Now if this sounds like a truly impossible task for you, there are things that you can do to help induce good and long sleep. Our pro-tips include drinking a warm cup of milk (whether that be almond milk, soy milk, or whatever your preference), taking a warm shower, or meditating for 10 minutes right before you get into bed.

5. Workout Regularly

Exercising is a must if you want your skin to glow and look radiant. This is because working out improves blood circulation and the extraction of toxins and poisons via sweat turns dull skin into plump skin. After a few sweat sessions you will see a notable difference in your complexion without a doubt. Whether it be a few yoga classes a week, a couple of gym sessions, or even a 30 minute walk around your neighborhood every day, physical exercise is sure to make your skin glow. Plus, you are staying healthy and well. Working out is an overall win. It is 100% worth it, and for all of my readers needing motivation to hit the gym, you won’t get anything you want unless you put the work in!

6. Limit Alcohol Intake

Alcohol, when consumed in large amounts, can age your body and your skin quite a bit. It can leave your skin dehydrated and lifeless, resulting in that unfavorable dull appearance. Smoking leads to similar results. We recommend limiting these habits as much as possible in order to obtain the bright and healthy skin that you want.

I hope that these lifestyle tips for treating dull skin mentioned above can help you get the bright and glowing complexion that you desire! If you want to go even further you can try DIY face masks, steam facials, or face massages.
